Final Information Security Training Event of the Year, SANS Cyber Defense Initiative 2011, Targets Washington, D.C.

Discounted Rates Offered to Combat Tough Economic Conditions

Bethesda, Maryland – Oct 13., 2011 – SANS today announced its final information security training event of the year, Cyber Defense Initiative (CDI) 2011, which will be held December 9 – 16 in Washington, D.C. SANS CDI provides information security professionals in the public and private sectors a unique opportunity to learn from today’s top security experts about the latest cyber attacks and what can be done to stop or mitigate damage. SANS is offering discounted rates to those who register by October 26.

“Knowledge is power; this is particularly true when considering security breaches,” said Stephen Northcutt, President of The SANS Technology Institute. “With cyber attacks becoming more frequent and more complex, it is becoming increasingly difficult to fend them off or better yet, prevent them. SANS CDI was designed to keep security professionals on the cutting edge. Through a unique mix of educational sessions and hands-on immersion training, students will leave with the knowledge and power required to fight today’s cyber criminals.”

SANS CDI 2011 is a national conference featuring 20 hands-on technical courses addressing intrusion detection, penetration testing and ethical hacking, forensics, compliance and many more topics. In addition to a vendor expo, bonus evening sessions and practice labs, CDI attendees also will have the opportunity to participate in NetWars. One of the key competitions in the U.S. Cyber Challenge, NetWars is an in-depth learning tool for security professionals. Participants compete in a mock environment to test their defensive, analysis, and offensive cyber skills, fighting off intruders while trying to take over target systems and networks.

Registration Discounts

Attendees registering by October 26 will receive a discount of $400 for five and six day courses. Attendees registering between October 27 and November 9 will receive a discount of $250 for five and six day courses.
