The Counter Terror Expo US is coming to Washington, DC on May 16 and 17 to the Washington Convention Center. I had the esteemed opportunity to interview Wayne Crawford, Vice President of North America, Clarion Events for Counter Terror Expo US and Amb. David J. Smith, Senior Fellow & Cyber Center Director at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies during my weekly BlogTalkRadio show. Mr. Crawford provided a wealth of information about the upcoming event while Amb. Smith gave some insight about the topic he will be discussing at the Expo.
Wayne Crawford Bio:
Wayne Crawford, Vice President, North America with Clarion Events Limited has over 25 years of diverse exposition management experience. He currently heads Clarion’s effort to establish a presence in the United States, including the launch of Counter Terror Expo scheduled for May 2012 in Washington, DC. Previously, Wayne held leadership roles in three of the country’s largest shows – NAB Las Vegas, the world’s largest electronic media event, where he served as vice president of sales; the Consumer Electronics Show as group director; and the JCK Jewelry shows as vice president/show director were he led the launch team. Wayne has also served in top management roles on the supplier side of the industry, including a stint as Vice President of Sales at a2z, Inc., an exposition management software producer. He is actively involved in IAEE and is a frequent speaker at IAEE, PCMA and SISO events.

Ambassador David Smith Bio:
Ambassador David Smith (Ret.) joined the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies as a Senior Fellow in 2005. In 2012, he became Director of the Potomac Institute Cyber Center. Ambassador Smith has had a distinguished career in defense and foreign affairs, is an expert on international security issues, and in recent years has focused on the emerging field of cyber security. He writes and lectures frequently on cyber issues and their role in international affairs, and his address to the International Cyber Defence Conference in Istanbul, Turkey in May of 2011 was entitled, “Russia, Georgia and the Shape of Cyber Wars to Come.”

Ambassador Smith’s other areas of expertise include U.S. strategic missile defense, arms control, European security policy, and security relationships with China, Russia, and Korea. He also has in-depth expertise and experience in building stability and security in the South Caucasus region. Ambassador Smith is currently involved in a major project to assist the Republic of Georgia in reforming its national security institutions, and serves as Director of the Georgian Security Analysis Center in Tbilisi.
